SILK NATURAL DYEING & SILK PLEATING

Combine the ancient arts of arashi shibori
and natural dyeing with the sheer
sumptuousness of silk to create wonderful pleated
fabric, reminiscent of the Fortuny delphos robe.
The technique of arashi shibori creates horizontal,
diagonal and diamond patterns, not haphazardly
achieved but with inevitable slight irregularities
that give these fabrics their special beauty.
The pleating is an extension of these dyeing techniques
and gives a wonderful movement and third dimension
to the fabric. During the course a variety of these
resist-dyed patterns and pleating using natural dyes
and methods suitable for silk will be sampled.
Both samples and finished scarves will be made.
