(clockwise from top right).

Learn to make sheets of lustrous, textured and gossamer silk 'paper' and to create scrunched and three-dimensional effects. Not true paper, the silk 'paper' is unspun silk fibre 'glued' together with various adhesive mediums. The course will concentrate on making samples with a range of silk fibres and various techniques; and on the uses of the silk 'paper' made with different mediums whether it be for machine embroidery, patterning into felt, wearable textile art, three-dimensional sculptures, book coverings, collage and al your imagination creates. On a one day course the basic techniques will be learnt; longer courses enable students to explore and develop the techniques further. This may include
3-dimensional work , seamless bags and purses or arashi shibori techniques and indigo dyeing to make amazing pleated, indigo dyed silk 'paper'.
