Coarse, gummy fibres stripped from yellow cocoons before they are reeled. The gum has not been removed making the fibres feel coarser than they actually are. The yellow is a natural pigment in the sericin and will be removed if degummed.

The gum in the fibres can be used to advantage. Natural silk 'paper' can be made by spraying the fibres with water and ironing between layers of silicone paper. Dried leaves or flowers or lengths of yarn or fibres can be caught in between layers of cocoon strippings.

The yellow cocoon strippings do not feel as gummy as the other cocoon strippings.
